VOLUNTEER

LUMAteers

Volunteer positions for 2024 are now OPEN

LUMA provides wonderful opportunities for people to be involved with the setup, running and pack down of this event. We require around 100 volunteers to join us and make up our family of LUMAteers. LUMAteers will contribute their skills, energy and enthusiasm in one of two main areas: Behind the Scenes – event set up and pack down, or as Part of the Scene – greeting guests, delivering information, collecting donations, selling merchandise and much more. Whilst the bulk of work is done by skilled crew and artists, they need the support of you, our LUMAteers, for some of the tasks.

Becoming a LUMAteer

By becoming a LUMAteer you gain first-hand experience in event set up and delivery, you will meet a great team of people and be part of one of the most exciting events in the Southern Lakes area. You are also guaranteed to make new friends while making a fantastic contribution to this community.

You do not need any prior experience to become a LUMAteer but you will need to be 16 years or older, be good at communicating with others, listening to instruction, multi-tasking, using initiative and turning up with keenness and excitement for the role you have been assigned.

If you have any volunteer questions, big or small, please email at lumateers@luma.nz.

Thanks for wanting to be part of the LUMA family!

In this hospitality focussed role you will be working in the LUMA Lounge, Rose Garden and Pixie Disco to collect used glasses, keeping the space neat and tidy and doing various F&B roles. This is a fun and social role with lots of opportunities to interact with the public.

Marshalls
Marshalls are a vital role for LUMA to function. You will be stationed (in pairs) throughout the event to help answer questions and make sure the public knows where they should and shouldn’t go. You will be directing a bit of traffic, having chats with people, making sure people aren’t walking outside of boundaries and being an enthusiastic ambassador for LUMA!

Merchandise
In this role, you will be at our Merchandise stand selling LUMA gear to visitors.

Pixie Disco
This is a PERFORMANCE Role! If you are keen to get dressed up in character, play a role and interact with the public, this is the volunteer shift for you! We will provide you with the costume and help you get into character. For the right people this will be really fun!

QT Central Bus Marshall
This role is suited to someone who is comfortable working OFF SITE for the evening. You will be stationed at K-Mart in Frankton, where you will be checking tickets and helping load people onto buses headed to LUMA for the night. This role suits someone who is comfortable working in a two-person team without additional LUMA team members around. As it is based in Frankton, living nearby might be an advantage.
