Captured

The Pilot Project of the LUMA festival took place on 24th-28th of June this year in Queenstown NZ, with several areas of the CBD and lake shore getting lit up by some remarkable art installations.

I took some interpretative shots of two of them, ‘Field’ and ‘Shroud’, both created by NZ artist Angus Muir Design.

Field was the grid of 28 mirrored posts on the lakefront, which at night illuminated.

Shroud was the canopy of thousands of coloured lights hanging from the trees, also in the lakefront park space.

I knew the artworks would be documented by several photographers and videographers, so i headed down at dusk on a rainy night to try and capture them from an slightly abstract angle, using long exposures and movement.
I hope you enjoy them.

LUMA’s pilot project was a great success and we need more of this kind of art in Queenstown.

As a growing, modern & cultural town we have the chance to grow our profile as a location as rich in the arts as we are in natural beauty and outdoor activities. ( and great pubs )

Here’s to the upcoming LUMA 2016 !

I anticipate some incredible artwork will be heading our way.

To get involved in the upcoming festival and see some stunning images and film of the pilot project instillations, head
