LUMA Southern Light Project is the event of the year that captures the creative hearts of the people in Queenstown. Drawing a crowd of all ages together to celebrate art and culture with an awe-inspiring free light festival located in the Queenstown Gardens.

This year, LUMA will be held for four nights from the 1st to the 4th of June. When the nights are officially dark and cold, LUMA will radiate in all its glory. Art, light sculptures and entertainment brought 35,000 people for the second LUMA festival in 2017. That same year, LUMA was named in the Top 10 Light and Sculpture Festivals Worldwide by escape.com.au. An incredible achievement for a festival that is only two years old.

The mesmerising light installations and creative artworks are expected to bring even more people for the third year in 2018. It is encouraged that with the growing crowd to take public transport and lift share where possible.

Words by Duncan Forsyth, trust chairman, lead us to believe that the 2018 LUMA festival will be more innovative and interactive than it has ever been. It takes an incredibly special event to bring so many people together in celebration of art, culture and education.

LUMA, a non for profit event was created by Queenstown locals, for locals and presented by 100% volunteers. Many thanks to the support from creative partners, business partners and volunteers that make LUMA happen so beautifully and seamlessly.
