CORE CREW

LUKE BALDOCK

Ideas and Tings - South Island Light Orchestra (SILO)

Luke sure knows how to throw one hell of a birthday party… and so the story begins. With a background rooted in architecture, design, and events, Luke is as much of a doer as he is a dreamer, bringing creative ideas to life with the help of friends and family. When not working (which seems to be more often than not), you’ll find him playing with light and lending a hand to create memorable moments at backyard bashes to events and festivals all over New Zealand.

TIM BUCKLEY

Brand and Stuff - South Island Light Orchestra (SILO)

Tim is a graphic designer, brand manager, strategist and tea-boy at Queenstown’s longest serving creative agency, Fluid. Tim was lured towards the lights after a tap on the shoulder from one of LUMA’s instigators right at the start, and has been resisting the darkness ever since. Event promotion has been part of his repertoire since he put together the gig posters for his high-school band The Hairy Marshmellows (you might not have heard of them); this was the start of Tim’s first marketing venture (aged fifteen).

SIMON HOLDEN

Nuts and Bolts and Circuits - South Island Light Orchestra (SILO)

Simon loves making cool stuff, from interactive led sculptures, lattice light canopies, bespoke projection mapping, led costumes, adding in sound and creativity and a sprinkle of magic. Our LUMA super tech, you’ll also find him contributing his skills around NZ to events such as Splore on the install team, at Taniwha’s Den lighting up trees and dropping beats, or maybe even at his day job automating flash-as houses all around Queenstown.

DAN MOVE

Partners and Artists - South Island Light Orchestra (SILO)

Dan hails from the North Shore, with a background in events, design and the New Zealand music Industry which found him touring the world with underground house music label LoveFunk Records. A master of remote working long before it became fashionable he honed his skills as content manager for Queenstown.com over eight years. These days he seems to have it sorted better than most dividing his time between LUMA, working with the artistic crew at AMD lighting up festivals around the world and even finding time to run a festival in his own backyard as event manager for Takapuna Winter Lights.

DUNCAN FORSYTH

Honcho - South Island Light Orchestra (SILO)

Duncan can be found during the day managing the graffiti strewn Mount Edward Winery, one the most progressive winemakers in New Zealand. By night the six time attendee of the alternative arts festival Burning Man focuses his creative energies on all things LUMA as part of the creative collective behind the event. For his sins he is also the LUMA Trust chair-elect, in his words not only as he was the last one to put his hand up but because frankly the others shouldn’t be allowed out that often in public.

CRAIG GALLAGHER

Summit Events - Event Manager

Driven for success, Craig has used Summit Events as the platform to deliver iconic events all around New Zealand. Raced the Motutapu? Competed at the NZ Rural Games? Ever seen Fat Freddys or UB40 in Queenstown? Summit Events provides the full package and is the reason why LUMA delivers to an international standard as a major event in NZ. Give it up for Craig, the coolest of heads when LUMA is running and to be honest probably when it isn’t as well.

JANEY RAE

Summit Events - Events Operations and Logistics
Janey we love you and do everything that you say! Consultant to a wide variety of events in New Zealand over the last 13 years, Janey runs our H&S, ticketing, manages our staff on site and generally keeps us on the straight and narrow when needed, no mean feat….. I mean start with 126,000 light bulbs, 2 kms of cabling, a few thousand volts and all of us, ‘work cut out’ is the expression…….
Belinda Crichton

Wellness Coordinator

I moved to Queentown with my husband in 1999 and have since raised 3 children in this town, I think that makes me a long term local! I joined the LUMA team as a volunteer in 2021 and quickly fell in love with the energy of the event and the vision of the event organisers. I soon got stuck in, helping out every day, carving out a role for myself as I went! The light installations are amazing but so too is the hard work put in by so many locals whose aim is to put on a bloody good show! It is hard not to be amazed, even transported to another realm, by LUMA, it’s not every day we experience something so awe inspiring! Am back again this year for more of the very different same!!
