For the win

The trust behind New Zealand’s favorite light festival, LUMA, has recently been announced as the 2017 Trustpower Award Supreme Winner in the Trustpower Queenstown Lakes Community Awards.

The award recognises the LUMA Light Festival Trust and the contribution of volunteers and the local community, who have donated thousands of hours of their time to achieve a family-friendly, fully accessible public arts festival.

After last years’ successful inaugural event, the LUMA Southern Light Project also took out the 2016 Trustpower award for the ‘Regional Arts and Culture’ category.

LUMA Light Festival Trust chair Duncan Forsyth comments on the latest award “It is very humbling to be recognised for all the hard work the LUMA team has done, from the amazing volunteers to all of the in-kind support we have received from the community”.

Following this award, the LUMA Light Festival Trust will go on to represent the Queenstown Lakes District at the national community awards next April.

The team is currently planning for the 2018 event held over Queen’s Birthday Weekend, 1st – 4th June.
