What is LUMA?
LUMA Southern Light Project is an arts, performance and sensory event designed to connect people, celebrate our night-scape and bring together local, national and international artists in a unique environment.
How do I get a ticket?
Tickets are available through www.LUMA.nz
Children 12 & under go free but need a ticket.
Tickets are on a per-night basis, no transfers.
We are required to limit ticket numbers per night to protect the Queenstown Gardens as a condition of use.
We also want to limit numbers to enhance your experience.
You have the option of buying now, secure your night and never mind the weather or...
Buy closer to the time to choose the weather and take a chance on availability.
There will be door sales if a night is not sold out prior.
Buy your tickets in advance, they will be $30 + booking fee on the day on the day.
Rock up with your tickets ready for scanning.
Traffic
We anticipate significant traffic congestion around the Queenstown Gardens and town centre throughout the duration of LUMA, and ask that people maximise use of the free Park & Ride, public transport, or carpool to the event.
Accessibility
We're making LUMA more accessible for anyone who experiences disability. Check our LUMAbility page for more information and wayfinding. Baby changing facilities are in the toilets next to the bowling club.
Where does LUMA take place?
LUMA is concentrated on the Queenstown Botanical Gardens, and Queenstown Bay.
Lost something?
If you lose your little ones at LUMA, approach one of our Crew, LUMAteers or Security who can assist you in finding your wee one. We have many sets of eyes on the ground! Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.
Give your kids some way of identifying themselves if they get lost to help our team reunite everyone.
If you lose valuables, we take these to the Queenstown Police Station.

Clothing is taken to the Salvation Army (depending on quality) on Tuesday 4th June.
Need some help?
If you find yourself in a bother and a wits end, head over to LUMA HQ at the Bowling Club where we will be able to assist you.
If you have any mobility issues then let a LUMAteers know and we will assist.
Card only
Dig out your cards, as LUMA is card only for drinks, food, tickets and merch. No cash.
What about BYO?
BYO is not permitted and a liquor ban will apply in the Queenstown Gardens during King's Birthday weekend except for within licensed areas.
Weather
LUMA doesn’t stop for rain or wind unless it’s unsafe - your enjoyment and safety is always our priority. If it does rain, bring your wellies, a rain jacket and maybe a brolly (with some fairy lights added of course), and please wear study suitable footwear for walking through LUMA

How do I get to LUMA?
LUMA is a very popular event, we recommend utilising the free Park & Ride, take public transport, or car pooling and parking in any of the Queenstown public car parking areas. More info.
Please do not try to drive to the Queenstown Gardens itself, as the car park is closed to the public.
Furry friends
We ask that you leave your pets at home, as children may become distressed in the presence of dogs, especially after dark.
As an artist, how can I exhibit at LUMA?
LUMA is curated through a public expression of interest application process. Applications will open in late 2024, so keep an eye out on LUMA.nz for more information.
Disc Golf
We are really grateful to the players and the Queenstown Disc Golf Club for allowing LUMA to use some of the holes during the buildup, LUMA itself, and pack down. There will be closures over this time, we will update closer to the event.
